A funny thing happened at Caitlin's first pedia visit

It was Caitlin's first pedia visit today. Hepa-B immunization nya. Ang aga naming pumunta sa clinic para mauna kami... lagi kasing maraming patients yung pedia nya (na pedia ko rin nung bata pa ako... hihihi!).

Anyways... nauna nga kami sa clinic. Wala pa si doktora nung dumating kami pero andon na yung secretary nya. Ni-weigh na nya si Caitlin and ni-measure yung length nya. Ang bilis nya bumigat. She weighed 6.71 lbs when I gave birth. In just 2 weeks, 7.7 lbs na sya! Humaba na rin sya by 3 cm.

Then, her (rectal) temperature was taken. So, nilagay na yung thermometer sa pwet nya. After a while, sabi ng secretary, "bakit parang may tumulak ng thermometer palabas?". Pagtingin namin, nagpoopoo pala si Caitlin! Tinulak ng poopoo nya yung thermometer palabas! Hahaha! Nakakahiya! Pero nakakatawa din...

Meron na akong ikukwento kay Caitlin paglaki nya. Hehehe!!!

I didn't get enough sleep. Ang sakit ng hips and puson ko. Di ko naman magising si Marlon kasi ang naisip ko normal lang yung nararamdaman ko. Besides, June 12 pa ang due date ko so di nag-cross sa mind ko na baka labor pains na yung nararamdaman ko. I just tried to make myself comfortable para makatulog na ako.

Finally, nakatulog din ako around 4am.

Ginising ako ni Marlon around mid-morning. Tinanong nya ako kung gusto kong pumunta sa ob-gyne ko. Nabanggit nya kasi sa parents ko na di ako nakatulog the previous night. Naisip ng dad ko na baka nga daw labor pains na yung naramdaman ko.

So, even if di pa scheduled visit ko sa ob-gyne ko, pumunta kami that afternoon. In-ultrasound ako and IE. It turns out, dilated na ako by 1cm. Labor pains na pala yung naramdaman ko. Tapos, based sa ultrasound, nakaharang pa rin partially yung placenta ko sa cervix (placenta previa). My ob-gyne then scheduled me for a cesarean delivery the following day at 7am.

Pag-uwi namin sa bahay, we shared the news to our parents and families. Tapos, inayos na namin yung mga things that we'll be needing sa hospital.

We woke up at 5:30am... earlier pa yata si Marlon (di nakatulog... hehehe...).

By 6:45am, we're on our way to the hospital. Andon na kami before 7am. We were instructed by my ob-gyne to go straight to the operating room. So diretso naman kami don. When we got there, pinagpalit na nila ako into a hospital gown. Lahat ng things ko (bag, clothes and sandals) pinadala na nila sa mom ko. I was then led to the operating room. Pinahiga na ako and was prepped.

Actually, di ko na matandaan kung ano-ano ang ginawa nila sa akin. Basta I remember having my blood pressure taken, being shaved, being given antibiotics, being asked several questions, being given anaesthesia. Medyo groggy na ako by the time my ob-gyne arrived. Around 8:30am na sya dumating. Pagdating nya, binati pa namin sya ng Happy Birthday (it was my ob-gyne's birthday).

Tapos ang bilis na... half-awake lang ako pero I heard my baby cry after a few minutes. At exactly 8:49am, Caitlin Bernadette was born.

They showed me my baby before taking her to the nursery. After that, nakatulog na talaga ako.

When I woke up, it was almost 3pm... nasa recovery room pa rin ako. I can feel my toes but not my legs... kaya pala di pa nila ako ma-release. Almost 5pm na nila ako dinala sa room ko. Groggy pa ako and medyo naduduling-duling pa but aware enough to see na ang dami ko agad bisita! Actually, bisita pala ni Caitlin... hehehehe!

We really are very thankful for our little angel. During my operation, after Caitlin was taken out of my uterus, my ob-gyne saw na meron pala akong severe endometriosis.

As it is, it was already hard for me to conceive because of my pcos. Tapos meron pala akong endometriosis.

With God's grace, we were able to conceive. And now we have our little angel, Caitlin Bernadette, in our lives.

We're really thankful!

Happy Birthday Honey!!!

Birthday ni hubby today. Akala namin, this birthday would be his last birthday na kaming 2 lang... na wala pang baby. Nagkamali kami. Biglang sumingit si Caitlin. Hehehe...

But with Caitlin, naging extra special ang day na 'to for Marlon.
